Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Anthony Scott
Letter No.:
VWL2726
Sept 30 [1953]
10 Hanover Terrace
N.W.1
Dear Tony
I am so angry and ashamed at the title page of your new tune. As you well know I wrote neither the tune, the harmonies nor the words - so my name ought not to appear at all - Whereas my name is printed bigger than yours! I feel such a fool being given credit for something I have never done (I wish I had!).1
I have written a stinger to Alan Frank - do you think I ought to be firm and demand withdrawal of the issue[?]
My love to Ruth
Yrs
